How SilverLine tapes reflect light
Retroreflection sends light straight back where it came from — a headlight beam returns to the driver's eyes, so the wearer lights up against the dark. Two technologies achieve it, and SilverLine makes both.
Glass-bead tapes
~30% of light returnedThousands of microscopic glass beads sit half-embedded in a mirrored layer. Light refracts through each bead, bounces off the mirror behind it and travels back to the source. A bead tape returns roughly 30% of incoming light — flexible, washable and economical, the workhorse of hi-vis clothing.
Micro-prismatic tapes
~80% of light returnedMicroscopic prisms formed in a polymer film work as corner mirrors, returning around 80% of incoming light. Prismatic tape is brighter at long distance and mechanically tougher, at a higher price — the choice for the harshest visibility requirements.
Certified, and tested lot by lot
SilverLine FR tapes withstand 50–100 industrial wash cycles and are certified to EN ISO 20471, EN 469 and NFPA 2112. Every production lot is tested before it ships — visibility is not a spot-check property.
