How we control quality

Every fabric in this shop passes the same three-stage control system — at the mill, on the inspection table and in the laboratory — before it reaches a customer. This page explains what we test, where, and who verifies it.

Three stages, every lot

  1. 1

    At the mill

Control starts during production: greige fabric is examined before finishing, colour is checked after dyeing, and finishes such as water- or oil-repellency are verified against the specification.

  2. 2

    Finished-fabric inspection

At least 10% of every production lot is inspected point by point on the table, using the Ten-Points defect system — a stricter development of the American Four-Points method. Lots over the defect threshold don't ship.

  3. 3

    Laboratory testing

Samples from each lot go to the lab, where physical performance is measured against the declared specification before the lot is released for sale.

What we test — and who verifies it

Routine parameters are measured in our own laboratory on every lot. Tests that need specialist equipment — or an independent signature — go to accredited external labs.

In our own lab

  • Shrinkage after washing
  • Colour fastness to washing and to wet & dry rubbing
  • Tear and tensile strength
  • Colour matching against the approved standard
  • Water repellency and PU-coating performance

By independent laboratories

  • Colour fastness to light
  • Formaldehyde and AZO content
  • Shrinkage after industrial washing (ISO 15797)
  • Certification testing for EN and ISO standards

Partner laboratories include SGS, AITEX (Spain), BTTG (UK) and STR.

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 — since 2015

XM Textiles fabrics have been certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 by Testex AG (Switzerland) since 2015, and the certificate is renewed every year. It confirms the fabric is free from harmful substances — safe for garments worn all day, directly on the skin.

The paperwork ships with the fabric

Certificates are listed on every product page, and the full documentation — over 320 international certificates — is provided free with any order, on request.

The technology behind the two protective ranges lives on their brand pages:
